DCL Pest Control recently carried out a drainage inspection and discovered that rats had chewed through an existing non-return flap. This damage had created an access point, allowing rodents to travel through the drainage system.
Non-return flaps primarily prevent wastewater from flowing backwards and help protect properties against flooding. However, they do not necessarily provide effective protection against rodents.
Removing the Damaged Flap
Following our investigation, we removed the damaged section to address the vulnerability within the drainage system.
The existing flap could no longer provide a reliable barrier against rodent entry. Therefore, we recommended a more robust solution to protect the property.
Stainless Steel Rat Gate Installation
We installed a specialist stainless steel rat gate to prevent rats from travelling through the drainage system and entering the property.
The new gate provides a stronger barrier against rodent access while maintaining the drainage system’s normal function.
Long-Term Rodent Prevention
This project highlights the importance of regular drainage inspections and professional rodent investigation. By identifying the damaged flap and installing a suitable replacement, we addressed a potential entry route before it caused further problems.
