We attended a rat investigation recently and, honestly, we had to double-check the diary when we arrived!

The property had chickens, and where there’s a readily available food source, rats will often follow. While chickens don’t cause rat problems, poorly protected coops and feeding areas can create the perfect environment for rodents to thrive.

If you keep chickens, we recommend:

  • Storing feed in sealed containers
  • Clearing up spilled food regularly
  • Checking for burrows around the coop
  • Securing access points beneath fencing and sheds
  • Installing preventative rodent measures where necessary

A little prevention now can save a lot of problems later.

And yes… we may have left with a few fresh eggs too!
