Emergency Callout for Severe Rat Activity

DCL Pest Control attended a property following reports of significant rat activity linked to the drainage system in Aldershot. The client was experiencing ongoing issues and required a full investigation to identify the source and prevent further access.

Investigation Findings

Upon arrival, we located and opened a buried manhole cover. Inside the chamber, we found a deceased rat trapped between the frame, confirming active use of the drainage system.

The existing cover had seized and required careful removal. Once access was gained, we carried out a full inspection of the chamber and surrounding drainage connections.

Works Carried Out

To resolve the issue properly and restore the integrity of the drainage system, we completed the following works:

– Removed the seized manhole cover

– Excavated the area and installed a new cast-iron manhole cover

– High-pressure jetted the drain connection to clear blockages and debris

– Carried out a CCTV camera inspection to assess the condition of the line

– Removed all debris from the chamber

Rat Gate Installation

To prevent future rodent access, we installed a heavy-duty rat gate within the drainage system. This solution stops rats from travelling upstream into the property while allowing normal waste flow.

All identified entry points were blocked and sealed, ensuring the drainage system is now fully rat proofed.
